Having never owned or worked on a Beetle before I needed to do lots of research. I visited the local library but they really didn't have many workshop manuals. Quite surprising really as the Beetle was the world's biggest selling peoples' car. I next tried Trade Me. I slowly built up a small collection of repair manuals. Interestingly each manual was slightly different with no single one supplying all the information I needed to know. Then thanks to Tony and Pat I obtained two manuals which are my favourites. The Idiots Guide and the Bentley Official Service Manual - see photo - provide a comprehensive source of all the information a DIY guy like me needs to know. Thank you Tony and Pat. For any DIY mechanic I recommend these two books as being the best to obtain.
